Jennifer Black

Jennifer Black holds an MA in African American Studies and a PhD in Comparative Studies, both earned at The Ohio State University. Hailing from a background in both activism and academia, she focuses her research on high-risk activism, state-sponsored terror against political insurgents, and the impact of mass incarceration on marginalized communities. Black currently lives in State College, Pennsylvania, where she divides her time between teaching classes in the English department at Penn State University and working directly with incarcerated writers and political prisoners.
