In April, in response to a December 2020 letter from Sens. Brian Schatz (D-Hawaii) and Mike Lee (R-Utah), the Justice Department released to Congress data related to people who were released to home confinement under the CARES Act and other authorities or granted compassionate release in response to the Covid-19 pandemic.
