Anna Belle Newport

Anna Belle Newport is a litigation fellow at the Family Justice Law Center, an organization seeking justice for those mistreated by the family policing system. Her article on the need for family “Miranda” warnings during child protective services investigations was published in the Columbia Human Rights Law Review. At Columbia Law School, Anna Belle was a Public Interest/Public Service Fellow, a Racial & Social Justice Fellow, and a national Bergstrom Child Welfare Fellow. She interned at the Bronx Defenders, Brooklyn Defenders, Center for Appellate Litigation, and Still She Rises. She also conducted an externship with the Squire Patton Bogg’s Public Service Initiative, working on behalf of a client facing the death penalty. Previously, she served as a Fulbright Research Fellow in Amman, Jordan and as an advocate for survivors of domestic violence and sex trafficking in Brooklyn, New York.
