Contributor

Ariel Gilbert is a senior at Columbia University, majoring in African-American and African Diaspora Studies. She credits her system-impacted father, Tyree Gilbert, as her first teacher in the field. She works as an Undergraduate Fellow in Oral History at the Movements Against Mass Incarceration Lab—a Mellon Foundation–funded project that archives the testimonies of 250 formerly incarcerated changemakers. Looking to the future, Ariel is excited to attend law school and to diversify the legal field.
