Kenithia Alston is the mother of the late Marqueese Alston and an activist in Washington, D.C. Since her son’s death in 2018 at the hands of the police, she has advocated for police accountability, reform, and transparency so that similar tragedies don’t happen again. She has written movingly about her grief and fight for justice in outlets such as The Washington Post.
