Maneka Sinha

Maneka Sinha is an assistant professor at the University of Maryland Carey School of Law where she directs the Criminal Defense Clinic. Professor Sinha is known for her forensic science expertise and has trained lawyers nationally.
Prior to academia, she served as a supervising attorney and as special counsel to the director of forensic science for the Public Defender Service for the District of Columbia. She also headed the agency’s Forensic Practice Group, where she trained and supervised lawyers involved in forensic science litigation. She has tried over 25 cases for adult and juvenile clients charged with felonies. Professor Sinha has also served as a fellow for the International Legal Foundation where she supervised and trained lawyers in both the West Bank and Nepal. She has recently written for popular publications including Slate magazine.
