Her analysis in this essay draws on The Temp Trap: A Blueprint for Organizing Workers In the Temp Industry, a report based on two years of organizational research, including surveys of 183 people incarcerated in Miami-Dade jails; structured site visits to 89 temp agencies and 58 reentry and workforce organizations; 55 additional site surveys of temp agencies; and 608 in-depth conversations with workers navigating both the labor market and the carceral system, supplemented by federal employment data, industry reports, and a review of relevant academic literature.
