Nicholas E. Stewart is Executive Director of the Justice Education Project, the first national Gen Z–led criminal justice reform organization, and lead author of Next Steps into Criminal Justice Activism: Technology, Ethics, and the Future of Justice, a youth-written book on AI and the legal system featuring faculty from Columbia Law School and University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School. A criminology graduate of the University of South Florida, his work examines how algorithmic systems reshape the criminal legal process and how young people can intervene in that shift. His research has been published in peer-reviewed journals including Psychological Services, and his analysis and commentary have appeared in The Hill, Teen Vogue, and Data & Society’s Points blog. He has delivered briefings and workshops for organizations including Human Rights Watch and the Sentencing Project, and speaks regularly at institutions including the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and Temple University.
