Renaldo Hudson is an educator and community organizer. He has focused his work on ending perpetual punishment in Illinois. Currently the Education Director at Illinois Prison Project, Renaldo leads an ambassador program through which six formerly incarcerated citizens work to help change the narrative about people incarcerated in America. Renaldo is the founder of the groundbreaking Building Block Program, a transformational program that is run by incarcerated people within the Illinois Department of Corrections. His work has been the focus of media outlets throughout the state and nationally, and the subject of the documentary Stateville Calling. Prior to returning home in 2020, Renaldo spent 37 years incarcerated, 13 of them on death row.
