Russell Craig

Russell Craig is a self-taught New York–based artist. Craig is the cofounder of Right of Return USA, the first national fellowship dedicated to supporting formerly incarcerated artists. Craig’s work is a part of the Brooklyn Museum’s permanent collection and has been featured in institutional exhibitions including Marking Time: Art in the Age of Mass Incarceration at MoMA PS1; an installation at the Philadelphia African American Museum, Truth to Power, as part of the 2016 Democratic National Convention; State Goods: Art in the Era of Mass Incarceration, a collaboration with the Center for Justice at Columbia University; and Blood, Sweat, and Tears, his first solo exhibition, at Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens. He has been a featured speaker on panels focused on the criminal justice system, and was recently a guest speaker at the 10th Annual Student Engagement Lecture Series at Manhattan College, organized by the Black Student Union and Student Engagement. Craig’s work has also been featured in group exhibitions at Martos Gallery, Aperture Gallery, and Malin Gallery.
