Sandra Mayson

Sandra Mayson is a professor at the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School, where she teaches courses on criminal law and evidence. Her scholarship, which has recently focused on bail, risk assessments, and misdemeanor justice, has appeared in journals including the Yale Law Journal, the Stanford Law Review, the Virginia Law Review, the Duke Law Journal, and Criminal Law and Philosophy. Mayson is also active in pretrial law reform. She served as the associate reporter for the Uniform Law Commission’s Pretrial Release and Detention Act, has co-authored amicus briefs in lawsuits challenging money-bail systems, and advises public and private stakeholders on pretrial reform initiatives. Before joining Penn’s faculty, Mayson was on the faculty at the University of Georgia School of Law. She began her legal career as a public defender in New Orleans.
