Sharon Brett is an Associate Professor of Law at the University of Kansas School of Law. Brett’s work has appeared or is forthcoming in the Virginia Law Review, NYU Law Review Online, Cardozo Law Review, BYU Law Review, the Harvard Civil Rights & Civil Liberties Law Review, and other leading law journals. Immediately prior to joining the faculty at KU, Brett was the legal director at the ACLU of Kansas where she led complex civil rights litigation in Kansas state and federal courts. She also worked as a trial attorney with the U.S. Department of Justice, Civil Rights Division, Special Litigation Section, investigating and litigating large-scale police misconduct and prison conditions cases. Immediately prior to moving to Kansas, Brett was a Senior Staff Attorney within a policy and research group at Harvard Law School, focusing on criminal legal system reform.
