Steve Herbert is the Mark Torrance Professor of Law, Societies, and Justice at the University of Washington, Seattle. He is the author of Too Easy to Keep: Life-Sentenced Prisoners and the Future of Mass Incarceration (University of California Press, 2019) and the writer and producer of Making Amends, a podcast series that explores efforts to atone on the part of residents at the Oregon State Penitentiary. He is currently working on a follow-up podcast series focused on interactions between incarcerated men and assistant district attorneys in a prison in Portland, Oregon.
