Brian Behnken

Brian Behnken is an associate professor in the Department of History at Iowa State University. He is the author of multiple books and articles on civil rights activism in the United States. His most recent is Borders of Violence and Justice: Mexicans, Mexican Americans, and Law Enforcement in the Southwest, 1835-1935 (University of North Carolina Press, 2022). He is currently working on a follow-up to Borders entitled Brown and Blue: Mexican Americans, Civil Rights, and Law Enforcement in the Southwest, 1935-Today, which he hopes will be published in the next few years.
