LaVander Williams is a self-taught artist from Washington, D.C., specializing in realism through the versatile mediums of graphite, charcoal, and colored pencils. He is also a co-curator of Beauty Behind Bars, an ongoing initiative dedicated to amplifying the voices of formerly and currently incarcerated artists. As a formerly incarcerated person who spent nearly sixteen years of his young life in prison, Williams discovered art as a powerful tool for healing and self-discovery.
