Brad Thomson is a civil rights and criminal defense attorney at People’s Law Office, based in Chicago. Much of his work focuses on representing activists arrested or facing police violence due to their political activity. This has included bringing civil rights litigation on behalf of protesters whose rights were violated by the Chicago Police Department. He has also successfully obtained the release for a number of political prisoners who spent decades in prison, including the MOVE 9 and Black Liberation elder Mutulu Shakur. Brad has provided legal support to radical and progressive social justice organizations for many years, initially as a legal worker and now as a lawyer, through the Mass Defense Committee of the Chicago Chapter of the National Lawyers Guild.
