Mark Spencer has a MD from Georgetown University School of Medicine and a BS in Neuroscience from Johns Hopkins University. He works as an internal medicine resident physician at multiple hospitals across Atlanta, including Grady Memorial Hospital, where locally incarcerated people come for their medical care. He is also a member of the community leadership team for the Policing, Alternatives, and Diversion (PAD) Initiative in Atlanta. His work focuses on how the American policing and carceral systems worsen health disparities and fail to contribute to the building of healthy and safe communities.
