Thomas Dichter

Thomas Dichter teaches in the History & Literature program at Harvard College. He is a founding member of Harvard Academic Workers-UAW, a union for Harvard’s 5,000+ non-tenure-track faculty and researchers. He received his PhD in English from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, where he was also a member of Decarcerate PA. His research on incarceration, race, and state-sanctioned violence in United States culture since the nineteenth century has appeared in J19: The Journal of Nineteenth-Century AmericanistsAmerican Literature, and Law, Culture, and the Humanities.
